Doctrinal
Statement
We believe that the supernatural God, who created the universe and
man, is a personal God who desires a relationship with man. There is
only one God, but in the unity of the Godhead there are three
eternal and coequal persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
We believe that Jesus Christ
is Head of the Church. He is God revealed in the flesh - born of a
virgin, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death,
resurrected bodily from the grave, ascended to heaven and will
personally return to claim His church and set up His earthly
kingdom.
We believe that the person of
the Holy Spirit is the presence of God on earth today. The Spirit's
activities today include convincing individuals of their need for
Christ, imparting eternal life at the point of salvation, indwelling
and baptizing each believer into the body of Christ spiritually,
sealing each believer until Christ returns, illuminating the written
Word of God to each believer, enabling the believer to live the
Christian life, gifting and continually working with each believer,
sharpening their gifts and skills to be effective ministers in the
kingdom of God.
We believe that the Bible is
God's verbal, complete and infallible revelation to man. Through
this revelation one can learn God's plan for man in the past,
present and future, including principles of life that make life work
best.
We believe that Satan tempted
Adam and Eve in the garden to rebel against God and, consequently,
man lost his perfect relationship with God. Satan and his angels
continue attempting to harass, influence and control the hearts and
minds of man to turn from God.
We believe that personal faith
in Jesus Christ is the only condition for man's salvation. This
salvation provides spiritual healing for man in his fallen condition
and provides all the enablement necessary for living the Christian
life in daily experience. Through salvation God declares the
believer righteous (justification), makes the believer holy
(sanctification), and will glorify the believer in heaven
(glorification).
We believe in both the
universal church and in the local church. The universal church (the
total body of Christ) is that spiritual organism of which Christ is
the Head, and is composed of all believers. The local church (a
portion of the body of Christ) is a group of believers who have
organized themselves for doing the work of God's ministry. Two
very important practices in obedience to God's command are the water
baptism of believers and communion.
We believe in the commandment
of Jesus Christ to love one another and to serve one another. Jesus
Christ established the local church as a gathering of his people for
mutual support, love and service.
We believe in the great
commission given by Jesus Christ to make disciples. It is incumbent
upon the church to reach out with God's healing message (the Gospel)
to the world.
We believe that Jesus
established a principle of ministry to the non-believer which was
characterized by understanding, compassion, healing and love. The
church is responsible to follow this principle.
